"Why in the name of Luna do you wear contact lenses?" Medley asked, watching her friend lean into the mirror.

It felt like such a hassle to put on fake contacts in order to attend something as silly as a party in Canterlot. Normally, Parasol's care-free attitude didn't match with this sudden attention to appearance. It wasn't like she was being asked to, or that it would go with that little skirt. Well...it did match but at that point Parasol could have just bought a different skirt.

"Because-" Parasol fitted the lens over her eye, covering up the amber under a soft teal, "-I may or may not have made a few mistakes on my last visit..."

"Mistakes?" Medley suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.

"It was just an accident, alright? I was curious about the castle and may...have stumbled upon Prince Blueblood...doing some...well...what matters is he did catch my eye peeping through the slit in the door."

She certainly regretted her decision to ask about Parasol's previous encounter. "You know, your eyes aren't really unique-"

"Oh I know he'd be able to tell. Prince Blueblood's been searching for these eyes ever since they wandered in on his...tea party of sorts. And if he ever found out those eyes belonged to me, I couldn't risk it. It's better not to give him a reason to question me. Besides, ever since that one affair I've gotten to know a lot of Canterlot higher-ups and all of them think I'm teal-eyed. So no point in pulling the disguise off now, right?"

Medley simply shook her head. "Seriously, sometimes Parasol...sometimes...there's a moment when you need to stop being paranoid and start appreciating yourself for you."

Of course Parasol giggled at that. "I'm always prepared for the worst, Medley. Whether it's an umbrella for the rain or contact lenses to keep suspicion off me, I am not about to take a chance."

Medley rolled her eyes. "Oh sure, Parasol, keep telling yourself that and maybe one day you will end up as a paranoid hermit."

After fitting the second contact lens over her eye, Parasol swirled around, a bright smile on her face. "Oh and if any nobility ask, I'm nopony of importance. Maybe we ought to bring those walkie-talkies-"

"Parasol, we're running late." Medley gritted her teeth. "So either we go now or you can spend the rest of the day wearing an eyepatch."

"Sheesh, I'm just trying to give you a heads up. Sorry for being the concerned friend of the group." Parasol grabbed her saddlebag and followed Medley to the train station.

I still can't believe I thought I stumbled into a filly's room. Best to hope I don't run into Mr. Snuggles at the party. That teddy bear knows me. He can smell fear.
